Peta Stuart-Hunt has been the Press Officer for Skandia Cowes Week for eight years. The Event celebrated its 180th Anniversary in 2006 making it one of the oldest events in UK sporting history. The on-site Media Centre hosts around 400 journalists, photographers, broadcasters and web writers and distributes daily news to around 800 media in total. Peta has co-ordinated the annual PR campaigns for the Event organisers since 2001 and, in 2003, also took over responsibility for the year-round media campaign on behalf of the organisers as well as for title sponsors Skandia.
This appointment resulted in the breadth, quality and value of coverage quadrupling. In addition, Peta has also worked closely with a broad range of supporting sponsor companies to help them maximise their involvement with the Event e.g. Cockburn's Port, Champagne G.H. Mumm, Henri-Lloyd, Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare, VW Touareg, WightCable, the Isle of Wight Council, and the official charity from 2006-2008, the Ellen MacArthur Trust.
